JPJ regulates that car windows has to be transparent with a neutral color, that is not glaring nor reflective that causes distraction to other road users.
JPJ allows car window to be tinted darker for the purpose of comfort while driving under hot sun. However, there is a limit where JPJ regulates that:
1. Front Windscreen = 70% VLT* 2. Front Side Windows = 50% VLT* 3. Rear Side Windows + Rear Windscreen = No Limit.
*VLT (Visible Light Transmission) is the rate of visible light transmitted through a car window. The lower the VLT means darker the window. The number stated is the lowest VLT allowable under JPJ regulation.
